The most popular poker game right now is Texas Hold’em. This is what you will see played on most poker shows on TV, and is the game that will likely have the highest number of players no matter what casino you play at. Keep in mind, however, that this is only one way to play poker.

In Texas Hold ‘em, each player is dealt 2 hole cards. Betting is done on the cards that are dealt and then out comes the “flop”. The flop is the next three cards dealt off of the top of the deck. These are dealt up on the board and anyone can use these cards to make the best poker hand. After betting goes around again the dealer than deals a fourth card onto the board, known as “the turn”. Betting then ensues again and the dealer than reveals the fifth and last card, known as “the river”. Whoever ends up having the best 5 card poker hand is the winner, or whoever bluffs that they have the best hand.

This is only one style of poker you can enjoy. Other poker games include 5 card draw and stud, seven card stud, and variations on traditional poker such as Omaha and Razz. There are some casinos you can find online that also offer games such as deuces wild, but games that feature wild cards are pretty limited. Some poker tournaments offer thousands of dollars in prizes, while others offer pennies or no prize money at all. The key with poker is to find a game you are comfortable with and stick with it. The more you play, the better you will become.
