Roulette

Roulette is a French term meaning “little wheel”. There are a variety of bets available for those who like to play the wheel. The wheel consists of numbers, 1 through 37 for French or European wheels, and 1 through 38 on an American wheel. The bets are based on the odds of a number coming out, among other betting factors.

While betting on a specific number will pay the highest odds, there can also be bets placed on if the number is odd or even. While this will not present as big a payoff as hitting a number, it is still better than a loss. Bettors can also place wagers on whether the number that comes out will be red or black. These are some basic bets, but there are many more options than just these.

When betting on roulette, there are what are known as inside bets and outside bets. Outside bets present better odds, but don’t pay out as much. These types of bets include betting on an even or odd number, black or red, betting on the low numbers(1-18) or high numbers(19-36), betting on a group of twelve numbers, called dozens bets, or betting on all the numbers in a column, or column bets. Inside bets present the option to bet on anywhere from one to six numbers in a variety of ways. If your a gambler going for a big payout, you’ll want to play an inside bet. Taking outside bets will increase your chances of winning, but won’t pay out as much.
